Execution period: 1 August 2024 – 30 June 2025 (AEI 2024 Call)
Dentist Smart Data Assistant (Smart Dental) is an innovative initiative designed to modernise dental diagnostics through the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Generative AI (GenAI) and blockchain technology. The project is driven by a collaboration between Alastria, The Cherry Health, Protección Digital and the Canary Islands Excellence in Technology Cluster. It is supported by the Spanish Ministry of Industry and Tourism through the 2024 call for Innovative Business Groups (AEI), within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (File number AEI-010500-2024-68).
Objective
The project aims to develop an advanced platform that provides access to updated, secure and structured clinical information, enabling dental professionals to improve diagnostic accuracy by using tools based on real and verified data. The platform will enable professionals to:
- Compare diagnoses and treatments with millions of similar clinical cases worldwide
- Apply AI algorithms to suggest treatments based on real, validated data
- Access information securely through the implementation of blockchain technology
The dental sector faces several structural challenges, such as fragmented clinical data, limited access to advanced technologies in small clinics, and the need to guarantee confidentiality when handling sensitive information. Dentist Smart Data Assistant is conceived as a response to these challenges, aiming to democratise access to cutting-edge technological tools and reduce the digital gap between larger and smaller centres.
Alastria’s participation
Within the project, Alastria contributes its expertise in developing blockchain-based solutions, ensuring the traceability, security and decentralisation of the clinical data managed by the platform. It also participates in the design of the technological architecture, aligning it with interoperability and privacy standards in the digital health ecosystem.
The project is expected to generate significant impact both in clinical practice and in the patient experience:
- For dental professionals: improved clinical decision-making, equal access to state-of-the-art technology, and the ability to compare diagnoses with millions of global cases
- For patients: more accurate diagnoses, personalised treatments and greater transparency and trust in how their medical data is handled
The integration of technologies such as Generative AI and blockchain makes this project a reference in digital transformation within the healthcare sector, with the potential to enhance competitiveness and improve citizens’ quality of life.
